Flexible spiral fluted drain for continuous and atraumatic surgical drainage – Spiral Drain™

The Spiral Drain™ is a flexible, fluted surgical drain featuring a unique spiral design that ensures continuous and effective drainage across a wide range of surgical procedures.

Thanks to its helical profile, the drain maintains the capillary effect in any position and continues to drain even when under traction or placed in a curved position. This reduces the risk of occlusion and tissue trauma.

Description
Key features
  • Flat fluted drain with spiral design
  • Four narrow helical drainage channels
  • Maintains the capillary effect in all situations
  • Works effectively in any position
  • Radiopaque for easy visualization on X-ray imaging
  • Available with or without an atraumatic stainless steel “Three Face” trocar

How does it work?

The spiral shape of the drain enables complete drainage along the entire wound tract.

If coagulated material blocks one drainage channel, the spiral profile provides alternative outflow pathways, ensuring uninterrupted fluid evacuation.

This design prevents collapse or kinking, which can occur with straight fluted drains.

Why choose the Spiral Drain™?

Compared to standard straight fluted or fenestrated drains, the Spiral Drain™ offers:

  • Continuous drainage, even when positioned in a curved or tensioned configuration
  • Reduced risk of occlusion and kinking
  • Higher drainage efficiency thanks to multiple helical channels
  • The possibility to use a smaller drain size while maintaining high performance

Unique features

  • Drainage surface area of 12 cm², compared to 4 cm² for standard fenestrated drains
  • High patency without reduction of the internal lumen
  • Atraumatic capillary effect over a 30 cm drainage length
  • Wide range of sizes from CH 7 to CH 24
